KENNETH F. POSNER is Of Counsel to the firm. He was admitted to the State Bar of Michigan in 1983 as well as the Florida Bar Association in 1984. He received his B.A. in Business Administration from Miami (Ohio) University in 1978, attended American University (1979 - Intern Senate Judiciary Committee, Subcommittee on Antitrust and Monopoly); and received a Master's Degree in Economics from the University of Michigan in 1980. He received his J.D. from University of Michigan Law School in 1982.
Mr. Posner has co-authored "Assignability of Commercial Leases: Michigan Law and Drafting Concerns" (with Kenneth Kalousek), Michigan Real Property Review, Real Property Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan [Winter 2003], "Analyzing Lease Tax Clauses in Response to Potential Tax Restructuring," Michigan Real Property Review, Real Property Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan [Summer 1994] (co-authored with Alan Hurvitz and presented at the International Council of Shopping Centers, National Law Conference, Orlando, Florida (1994). He presented "Dealing with Insolvent, Bankrupt, or Troubled Borrowers and Tenants" at a Homeward Bound Seminar, Real Property Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan, on October 11, 1990. He has also authored "Implantable Medical Devices and Products Liability", Medical Trial Technique Quarterly, 1982, and Food Drug Cosmetic Law Journal, 1981. He has taught intermediate and introductory Economics at the University of Michigan-Dearborn, Oakland University and Wayne State University.
He is a past-Chairperson of the Commercial Leasing and Management Committee of the Real Property Section of the State Bar of Michigan as well as a member of several other sections. He is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Courts for Eastern District of Michigan, Southern District of Florida, and Eastern District of New York, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. His memberships include the State Bar of Michigan and the State Bar of Florida.
Mr. Posner's primary concentration areas include Alternative Dispute Resolution and Real Estate Law. He has completed the 40-hour educational requirements and the training requirements under the Michigan Court Rules to serve as a mediator and settlement facilitator. He is listed as one of the approved mediators established by the Oakland County Circuit Court. He has been successful in helping parties identify the underlying issues in their disputes and resolve them. He also provides advice regarding Real Estate and Commercial Litigation.
